New Energy: Promote Green Development and Harmonious Coexistence between Man and Nature

The report of the 20th Congress is divided into 15 chapters. Among them, Chapter 10 details “promoting green development and promoting harmonious coexistence between man and nature”.

X. Promote green development and harmonious coexistence between man and nature.

Nature is the basic condition for human survival and development. Respecting, conforming, and protecting nature are the inherent requirements for comprehensively building a modern socialist country. We must firmly establish and practice the concept that clear water and green mountains are golden mountains and silver mountains, plan and develop from the height of harmonious coexistence between man and nature.

We must promote the construction of a beautiful China, adhere to the integrated protection and systematic management of mountains, waters, forests, lakes, grasslands and sands, coordinate industrial restructuring, pollution control, ecological protection and climate change, coordinate to promote carbon reduction, pollution reduction, green expansion and growth, and promote ecological priority, conservation and intensive, green and low-carbon development.

We must accelerate the green transformation of development methods, implement comprehensive conservation strategies, develop green and low-carbon industries, advocate green consumption, and promote the formation of green and low-carbon production methods and lifestyles. Deepen the prevention and control of environmental pollution, continue to fight the defense of blue sky, clear water and pure land, basically eliminate heavily polluted weather, basically eliminate black and odorous water bodies in cities, strengthen the prevention and control of soil pollution sources, improve the level of environmental infrastructure construction, and promote the improvement of urban and rural living environment. Improve the diversity, stability and sustainability of ecosystems, accelerate the implementation of major projects for the protection and restoration of important ecosystems, implement major projects for biodiversity conservation, promote grassland forests, rivers, lakes and wetlands for rest and recuperation, implement a ten-year fishing ban on the Yangtze River, improve the fallow crop rotation system on cultivated land, and prevent and control the encroachment of alien species. Actively and steadily promote carbon peaking and carbon neutrality, based on China’s energy resource endowment, adhere to the first establishment and then break down, implement carbon peaking actions step by step in a planned manner, further promote the energy revolution, strengthen the clean and efficient use of coal, accelerate the planning and construction of a new energy system, and actively participate in the global governance of climate change.
